More Christmas excitement in Cavalaire!
A vast tableau of the Nativity has been created by a world-famous sculptor.
With a difference.
This magical scene, measuring 100 square metres, is constructed in sand!
50 tonnes of sand was shipped from Mornas, in Vaucluse, 150 miles away, to be used in this wondrous work by Irina Sokolova, the renowned Russian sculptor.
Irina can be seen below, working on this masterpiece.
Sheltered from the elements – sun as well as rain – by a huge marquee, this fabulous exhibition is situated in La Place Benjamin Gaillard, in front of La Mairie, the Town Hall.
Entry is free, and the town is also providing hot chocolate and spiced bread for les gosses, the children.
And hot wine for big folk!
Santé and Cheers!
Génial!

Last night was the big, official unveiling of this wonderful creation. There will be some updating to do on Xmas day I was told… Stay tuned. And did you see the magnificent elelephant in the background?
Bright eyed kids walked through the exhibit in wonder. That’s what it’s all about.

Wow… I am blown away by these sand sculptors. I can’t even draw with pencil and paper!
Thank you for sharing these, my Pink Friend.

AnElephant is sure that Dale must have talent in some other field.
Perhaps deeply hidden.
Perhaps very deeply hidden.
And please bear in mind that AnElephant is only half of a team here.
The cute half, admittedly, but obviously not the smart half.
