Flower Parade

Sunday is the annual Corso Fleuri, or Flower Parade.
Interestingly, or perhaps not, the word Corso comes from the Italian Corsi, and means the place where the parade takes place – the course.
This is the start point.

And some by the pink chap.

The flowers are typically predominantly yellow, from the Mimosa for which the region is famous.
But this year the event falls on February 14th, so there is a lot of romantic red in evidence, with roses, tulips and a profusion of carnations providing wonderful contrast.
The floats are created by local groups, the lifeguards, the businessmen’s association, the Tragos Theatre Company, and suchlike.
Some shots of the parade in progress.

Your ace reporters on the spot have as much fun after the event as during it, as they wander the car park where the floats are broken down.
Delighted children, and adults, are given armfuls of joy to take home.
Here are some of the characters who make it such fun.
